Through TV as the medium, with which he interacted with the aam</= i> janta, teaching them the benefits of Pranayam and the = ill effects of the poisonous Colas and fast foods (indirectly waging a war with= the MNC’s), he soon rose to fame. But popular= ity is like a dog that attracts fleas. And while millions of people, free of charge and in the vicinities of their sheltered homes, stopped living and started breathing, the fleas started to flock. What began with the sacking of a few= employees (who obviously leaned towards the Left) immediately took on a political turn and the Swami (even with right intentions) soon got embroiled into an adulterated drug controversy. <o:p></o:p> For the next few days the Swa= mi was targeted by the Nations leading Doctors, rationalists, politicians, social activists and media. He also turned into an axis around whom a few squabbli= ng tests kept spinning wildly- the haddi test, = the science of Ayurveda test, the effect of Yoga te= st, the question of faith test and finally the test of his own patience. In his= very words- ‘Had it been a ‘gori chamdi’ that would have tried to achieve what I= have, by now he would probably be on the run for the Nobel Prize.’ <o:p></o:p> Ours is a nation bursting wi= th Swamis and Babas. One half of them spend their lifetime hoodwinking the naïve citizens, either through their fraudule= nt magical prowess or their masked by divinity lascivious intentions. Yet, when one decent Baba emerges as the collective voi= ce of the country, hell bent on patenting this ancient Indian entitlement, wha= t do we do? Instead of prodding the lone crusader towards the International rung= s of success, we make sure that he is completely edged off- even from the ladder= of Faith.
