Is This Being Chicken-Hearted?

Like all others, Japanese relish chicken preparations. And
last year when the Bird ‘Flu was at its worst; they had to slaughter millions
of chickens. But what they did recently was rather heart warming, if you might
say so. The Japanese Poultry Association has held a memorial service at a Tokyo
hotel for the slaughtered chickens. And the statement issued by Hideyuki
Shimada, the Director of this Association, was sincere. “We want to express
regret to the chickens at having to kill them. We do not know how they feel
about it, but humans should show appreciation”, he said.
