Message dated 16th September 2005 from Mrs
Vijayalakshmi Viswanathan,
FC (Railways), to all IRAS officers
I have just returned from Kolkata,
where the Eastern Region Seminar was conducted in a splendid manner. The Chief
Guest Justice Mr. Sirpurkar, Hon’ble
Chief Justice of Kolkata touched the right cords when
he glorified the service and
gave a new dimension for the acronym IRAS-
(I- 1ntelligence & Integrity, R- Reliability & Readiness, A- Accuracy & Accountability, S-
Straight forwardness & Service with a Smile). His address starting from his
nostalgic remembrances of Bengal Nagpur Railway to
the present day plight of encroachment-prone Railways was appreciated by the
knowledgeable audience.
The issue debated was topical and the quality of
presentation was of a high order. There was a right mix of theory and practice
as well as a good blend of the views of the organization and customer.
Arrangements were meticulous and atmosphere
congenial. The cultural programme presented by Tanushree Shankar, kept the
audience spell bound. The show should be rated as one of the finest ever
witnessed by many of us. The graceful, rhythmic and spirited movements of the
dancers were refreshing and enchanting. Binita Mitra’s compeering, lyrical and lively,
received the well-deserved appreciation from one and all! My congratulations
and compliments to all the officers of participating Railways in general and Kolkata based Railways in particular for a show efficiently
organized. Well done! My kudos to all concerned.
A visit to Kharagpur was
long overdue. The impressive progress achieved by this division in AFRES, the
passion with which Sahu, Sr. DFM implemented the same
and the manner in which the full potential of the system was exploited for
managerial purposes unfolded before me in a 30 minute presentation replete with
anecdotes of success. Inspection of the colourfully
decorated accounts office with enthusiastic staff in full attendance despite
being a holiday, only reinforced the positive note
generated earlier.
I have high hopes of our younger officers, of whom Sahu is a notable example! My congratulations to Sahu for his incessant enthusiasm, which motivates the
entire staff!
My best wishes to each and every one of you!
