The new IRAS Logo assimilates the past, present and future to demonstrate the future ready IRAS which upholds the principles of “Propriety, Proficiency and Productivity”.
The logo has been carefully designed to demonstrate the nature of the service and contemporary times.
Adorned with the National Emblem, the logo symbolizes service to the Government of India. The Railway bogie resting on the track symbolizes that IRAS is dedicated to serving the Indian Railways, the three wheels represents evolution and motion, and upholding the motto of “Propriety, Proficiency and Productivity”. The book and the computer monitor symbolizes that IRAS is the fusion of both old and new methods of analysis, its ability to continuously evolve and embrace innovations, bridging the traditional methods of accounting and book-keeping with latest technology such as data analysis, AI etc. to propel IR to an upward growth trajectory.
Finally the 25 pairs of leaves on the logo represents the 17 Zonal Railways and 8 Production units which comprise India Railways. They also symbolizes wisdom, prosperity, motion and continuity.
The logo is a demonstration of the “FUTURE READY IRAS”.

IRAS DAY 2013 - BHUBANESWAR CHAPTER
IRAS officers of East Coast Railways celebrated IRAS Day 2013 on 30-11-2013 in a befitting manner by conducting a family get together and a seminar with the following topics as agenda for the same.
 Sharing rich experiences in their eventful career by distinguished members of IRAS fraternity.
 Changing role of Finance & Accounts – Challenges ahead – Brain storming discussions by members.
 IRAS career progression & development of professional skills.
Besides the above agenda items, a presentation on “Contemporary issues on Service tax with special reference to works contracts†was given by Sri Niranjan Swain, president of Bhubaneswar-Cuttack chapter of ICWA in which many pertinent issues relating to applicability of service tax on services provided by the railways was deliberated.
Shri S.S. Natarajan (IRAS – 1976) in his address, shared his experiences since his probation days and stated that there has been a lot of changes in in the present day’s working conditions and atmosphere. The IRAS probationers today have better chances of learning and acquiring knowledge and functioning as there are many senior Officers are available to approach.
Shri D.K.Samantray(IRAS – 1981) and MD of Angul-Sukinda Railway Project mentioned that his experience in IRAS in handling various critical issues including complex administrative issues have really helped him in his present assignment as the Chief executive of the organization where handling cash flow is the most important for the survival.
Shri R.S.Mitra, IRAS and FA&CAO mentioned that IRAS is a unique service dealing with both Finance & Accounts and every year young people are being induced to bring new ideas & technology to bolster its growth. He emphasized that IRAS officers to be trained in professional institutes like IIMs/ISB/reputed chartered accountant firm like PWC,AF Ferguson etc. during probation so that the officers are professionally competent while dealing with complex financial issues. Sending IRAS officers on deputations to other organizations will also help in broadening their view and improving knowledge levels for career progression. Tax consultants on Service Tax,VAT,CST,GST and new company law to be engaged and placed under FA&CAO.
It was a unanimous view of IRAS community, that IRAS officers need to be given more international exposure, to make IRAS officers grow in the service and have a wider vision. The event was conducted by Sri B.K.Mishra,IRAS and Dy FA&CAO(F&A).
The event was widely covered in the local newspapers including The Times of India, Indian Express, Hindu, Pioneer and other regional dailies.
