Sub: Restructuring of Gazetted Cadre of the Indian Railways = 211; IRAS: Upgradation of 6 posts from SA Grade to HA Grade (Rs.22400-24500), 10 posts from JAG to SA Grade and 20 posts from Sr. Scale to JA Grade.

<= /span>The gazetted cadre of Group`A` Railway Service (IRAS) has been reviewed and app= roved by the Government with a view to restructuring and strengthening the set-up= to cope with the increased work load and responsibilities. The total sanctioned strength of I= RAS Cadre would now include 17 posts in HA Grade and above involving 6 upgradat= ions from SA Grade, 94 posts in SA Grade (Rs.18400-22400) involving 16 upgradati= ons from JA Grade and 227 posts in JA Grade involving 36 upgradations from Sr.S= cale including resultant effect of upgradation of higher grade posts. Consequently, the number of Sr.Sca= le posts stand reduced from 328 to 276 on account of upgradation to higher gra= de and matching surrender.

2. = Accordingly, sanction of the Ministry of Railways is hereby accorded to the upgradation = of 6 IRAS posts from SA Grade to HA Grade (Rs.22400-24500), 10 posts from JA Gra= de to SA Grade and 20 posts from Sr. Scale to JA Grade w.e.f. the date these p= osts are operated in the higher grade. Details of the posts to be upgraded are indicated in the Annexure= I to this sanction. Sanction for upgradation of 2 posts to JA Grade to be operated in Railway Board will be communicated later on.

3. The above posts which are permanent in the existing grade, shall be treated as permanent in= the upgraded scale. The dates of operation of the upgraded posts may please be intimated to this Ministry in= due course.

4. The additional financial implication for the above upgradation will be met by surrender of= 16 regular Sr. Scale posts. The = number of posts to be surrendered by each Railway have been indicated in Annexu= re II to this sanction. The Railway must ensure that the sanction orders f= or surrender of posts are issued before implementation of the upgradation and = this office advised accordingly. The surrender of posts should be finalized duly vetted by FA&CAO.

5. Wherever posts a= re provided by transfer from other Railways, the Railway may ensure that the p= osts are operated/upgraded after their release by the concerned Railway.

6. This issues with= the concurrence of the Finance Directorate of the Ministry of Railways.
