Believe it or not, but a barman at the famous Unter
Taschenmacher pub in Cologne, Germany was repeatedly warned by the management
for drinking too much while on duty. Things came to a head one day and he was
discharged by the management for this lapse. He went to a Labour Court and won
his case, the Court terming his dismissal as “unfair”. This inspite of the fact
that he admitted drinking sometimes as many as 40 bottles of beer in a day, of
course, from the bar stock. And after being reinstated, he told the media that
working at this pub had always been his dream.
