A Sure World Record

One person who is very sure of getting a place in the Guinness Book is Bary Maunder of Twickenham, Middlesex, U.K. You see, he has so far received 11,000 wrong calls on his telephone. And all these were meant for The Guinness Book of World Records, asking to be included in the book. They came from Japan, USA and the U.K. What apparently happened is that the telephone directories of these three countries have printed his telephone number as the telephone number of the World Record Book authorities in U.K. by mistake. (They probably exchanged info from each other, so nobody knows who really committed the mistake.) Maunder says he gets at least six wrong calls a day. “My record is 20 wrong calls in nine hours and there have been some really bad days”, he says. One call he received was from a Japanese girl who said she had been playing Hopscotch (known in India as “Ekaria Dukaria” or “Tikri”) non-stop for 72 hours. Is he unhappy about it? No, because he is an invalid and has to remain in bed. Now that is what you have to call good cheer.
