Raymond Ronson, aged 39,and living in a town with
the difficult name Llandudno, Wales, U.K., has a difficult dilemma: How to
celebrate his next birthday? The problem is that at each of the last six
successive birthdays, he had a mishap. For example, his on his birthday in
1996, when he conducted a barbecue, he burnt his foot. In the following year,
he cut himself while slicing the birthday cake. And, in 1998, he was hurt in a
car crash while going to his birthday party. He is quite vocal about his
problem. “It is not as if I go for skydiving or anything, but though I spend
the day in taking things easy, I still end up in the casualty ward”, he told a
newspaper. And where do you think he proposes to spend the next birthday? He
says he will perch himself just outside the emergency and accident department
of Llandudno’s general hospital. Now would you call it the height of caution or
plain precaution?
