Sports could be strange. In Germany, kartoffelkanone is one sport, which now the authorities are planning to ban through an emergency legislation. Boys and girls prepare makeshift canons from drainpipe, and use hairspray as the propellant. The projectile is a potato. It can be sent as far as 200 yards with the crude device. The sport has been becoming increasingly popular, much to the dismay of the authorities. The reason is that recently a school in Baden-Wurttemberg came under a heavy barrage of potatoes fired by an attacking gang of juveniles. The police say they are in no mood to wait for a death to take place.
