German Railways are considered by many to be superior to British Railways, but not so by Britishers. Britishers waste no chance, therefore, to make fun of the supercilious efficiency of the Germans. One gag, which Britishers claim to be a true story, is about a German firm. This firm is currently manufacturing passenger coaches for the British system .When the first prototype coach was finished by the Germans, they realised that there was no point in testing its’ performance on German Railways’ track, since the British track was inferior. And the coach could not be taken to British Railways for testing since the Germans were pretty suspicious of British industrial espionage. So what the Germans did was to construct a track in Germany exactly like the British track, and tested the coach on this track.
