One of the dreaded prospects is a visit to a dentist. However, when you are sitting in the dentist’s chair, the fact that you are in qualified, trained hands can boost your morale. Probably not so in Italy. An official spokesman of the Licensed Dentists Association of Italy, Giuseppe Renze, recently revealed that more than 45,000 unqualified dentists were practising illegally in Italy. He said these pseudos have been known to be pulling out teeth, cleaning scales from teeth, and fixing crowns. And what are the basic skills that they have? “Generally, they have been found to be tailors, plumbers, and traffic wardens”, said Renze.
