From China comes the tale of a customer who walked into an electronic shop with his wife, and went around looking for a mobile phone. Having fancied a costly Nokia handset, he told the salesman that he would like to test the handset. And he offered to keep a wad of currency notes and his wife at the counter as surety. Naturally, there couldn’t be any objections. The customer walked out of the store, never to return. The wad of notes was found to have waste paper stuffed between two currency notes. As to the “wife”, she protested that she had actually met the customer only a few hours earlier and agreed to just accompany him to the store.
