The Great Mix-up
S.M.Singru
On July 20th,
one newspaper in U.K. reported that one couple flew to El Salvador by mistake
instead of their intended destination Salvador in Brazil. While the readers
were still smirking on this case of mistaken destination, the Daily Telegraph
of London has reported an equally amazing mix-up. Two teenagers from Kent, U.K.
Raeoul Sebastian and Emma Nunn paid £740/- each to travel to Sydney, Australia.
The tickets were booked on the Internet. They actually ended up reaching Sydney
in Canada. What is baffling is that for reaching the Canadian Sydney, they had
to change the plane at Halifax, Nova Scotia and get into a 25-seater propeller
driven plane for Sydney, Canada, which should have made them wiser. It was only
when they landed at the small town Sydney with a population of 25,000 that they
realised their blunder. Commentators say this speaks volumes about the extent
of care, which airlines give to their passengers and a lot about the state of
flight security in international travel. So far, we had any number of suitcases
being miscarried to wrong destinations by international airlines. Now they want
to add passengers to their list of achievements.
