Thou Shalt Keep Thy Promise—Even In Death
S.M.Singru
We are well versed with the famous admonition from Lord
Rama in Ramayan that a promise has to be fulfilled, even though one has to pay
the price by losing one’s life for this. Well, a group of booze-lovers in Peru
did something better than this. One Friday night, after having drinks at their
favourite pub, they dispersed after solemnly promising each other that they
would meet the next Friday evening at the pub. But one of them suddenly died in
the week following. What intrigued the police was that the dead man’s body went
missing on the coming Friday. The body was located in the evening—at the
favourite pub. There the group had gathered for the promised drink, and in
order to complete the quorum, they had stolen their friend’s body from the
morgue and quietly brought it to the pub, for a last drink. After all, a
promise is a promise, right?
